2022 Grants from the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences

Hurray! All excellent international applicants are cordially invited to apply for academic grants in Germany for the academic years 2022–2023 from the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS).

The study grant is financed by the German Research Foundation for the academic year 2022/2023 and is intended for candidates who wish to pursue PhD studies in the Research Training Group.
In order to give early-career researchers from various social science disciplines a platform to study the self in various social systems that range in complexity and are dynamically changing over time, the BIGSSS study grants will concentrate on examining the interactions between people and their social environment.

About: The University of Bremen and Jacobs University Bremen jointly offer the graduate program known as the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS). It is supported through funding from the federal and state governments’ Excellence Initiative, which promotes science and research. The BIGSSS collaborates closely with many esteemed research institutes on a local, national, and international scale and is a part of an international network of graduate education programs.

Candidates with degrees in related fields are also accepted, according to the selection criteria. For the duration of the program, all accepted researchers must move to Bremen.
Applicants must show that the dissertation proposal and the listed project lines are broadly thematically compatible. A maximum of three potential project lines

Application Benefits: The selected candidates will be offered a 36-month employment contract at Jacobs University or the University of Bremen, based on the salary scale E13 TV-L/TVöD (65%).

entry prerequisites

A master’s degree (or its equivalent) in psychology, sociology, or political science is required of all applicants.

Candidates must present proof of their English language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, CAE/CPE (Cambridge Exams)) (scan – PDF).
Relevant Programs:
a doctorate in research, preferably in psychology, sociology, or politics.
